Gator, this sounds like a classic failure of the AIC to work properly. Search the boards for more information, or get a Bentley manual to troubleshoot.

Basically, this is a valve that controls the amount of air that bypasses the throttle when the throttle is closed. The valves themselves are prone to failure, but it could also be due to other factors.

If you can repeat the failure by turning on the AC, and that is the only drivability problem, I would be tempted to clean the AIC and see if that helps. They aren't ridiculously expensive to replace, and easy to do.
