Assuming everything is lubed sufficiently, it could be that your hinges are worn or sagging. I recall on my 92 C900 when I had a similar problem that the indie I used didn't want to spend the time to adjust the hinges where they meet the door. Use WD40 or silicone spray liberally to make sure its not dirt causing the interference to not operate properly.
