Some basics - Your '86 CIS 8v will be directly compatible with any 8v thru '86 . Bumpers, front lights, and hubs and axles are dif in '87-8, but the base model was still an 8v w/ CIS. Any '85-8 S or T is 16V, as are all from '89-. They would require swapping out engine and Fuel injection wiring. Auto to manual swapping is pretty straightforward. All interior parts interchange, including the passive seatbelt cars which can be swapped to regular belts. If you desire to stay with 8v, consider finding a good running 8v from a 'no-rust' region and buying and driving home. The 8v that are in good shape don't seem to be at all $$$$. I'm in Portland OR and it's painful to see the nice 8v 900's go wanting a good owner. Then keep the good from your car as spares.
