to grab a used harness from a junked car. you might not need the whole thing, just lengths of the right colour coded wire to cut in and solder as replacement sections. or possibly sub-harnesses, which you could splice in.
i think 1986 is the year of the dissolving insulation on the wire harnesses, which seems to be a fairly known problem. so if you do some more checking around the car you may find more trouble spots. people have mentioned under the fusebox where wires go thru the bulkhead as well.
hopefully someone will have some more useful/easy words of advice, but just a possible thought for you.
