Hi, I have a 92 turbo that is acting strangely as of lately. I drove this car today at 55 or 65 MPH and found when I accelerated it wasn't smooth but rather it stuttered and choppy. Pushing the clutch down I let the car drift and it smoothed out as it revved back down to 1,000 RPM. Revving it while it stands still doesn't make it break up at all, its only happens when driven.
I thought it was the pickup in the distributor, so I carefully, (oh so carefully) rebuilt a useable one out of the old distributor housing and a used one I had laying around. The cap and rotor are new, and the wires spark good and strong. The spark plugs are good also, so I'm at a loss what might be the cause.
I noticed the APC unit, (the little guy with the three vacuum hoses coming out of it, sitting near the coil) was clicking loudly as the engine was idling but I'm not sure if this has anything to do with anything. My gut tells me its a turbo issue, maybe something to do with a component or something is out of adjustment.
Thanks for your help in advance,
JohnnyAlicante
