Is this a turbo or non turbo. If it is a turbo, you need to check all the air inlet connections. I had the strangest situation about the engine dying like this....if I had the hood up, it would start... then close hood and it would die.
Finally, I saw that the inlet down near the turbo wasn't perfectly connected, and as soon as it was pushed by the hood closing, the AMM would get a faulty signal, and the engine wouid die. I took apart the plumbing, and carefully assembled, and now the car doesn't die or miss a beat.
If it was your cam teeth being off a tooth, you would have a rough tenuous idle. It won't idle smoothly if the cam teeth are off, but I haven't heard of the car dying as a result of that. It is definitely something to check though since it was recently done. Even good Saabtech mechanics that work at dealers can miss the boat on the cam sprockets -- ask Brad at KC Saab -- he will say 1 in 10 are missed by accident. Low odds, but certainly possible.
