I just saw your post regarding the 88 SPG. I had worked out a deal with the owner and was prepared to have an inspection and the car shipped - so seeing your post could not have happened at a better time. I ran the car fax and came across the prior ownership and odometer readings and it did not seem likely that the car only had 10K in miles put on in the last 10 years. Asked the current owner and he claimed he did not know, but considering he's been a regular on Saabnet, and the car was listed on Saabnet classified at >150K miles, I can't believe his story. He had claimed that he thought it had around 108K and once I alerted him the the carfax he claims to have checked with prior owners and confirmed it was probably more like 140K.

Having trouble believing anything he says now. Especially since I was planning to buy the car without seeing it first. Damn. It's tough to find a decent Saab in the Chicago area. Back to the drawingboard.

Very glad I came across your post - it was almost too late.
