ARRGH! Joy short lived - SIDESWIPED! Posted by gfreshski1 [Email] (#1116) [Profile/Gallery] (more from gfreshski1) on Sun, 30 Jan 2011 07:24:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Yesterday morning, I posted my joy about turning a corner with my lady and her understanding of my Saab.
3 hours later, I go outside and see that someone hit my Saab Virva. Contact at the rear drivers wheelwell sheared off a piece of the plastic molding, long streak along the rear panel and door, impact on sideview mirror, broken left indicator, impact on tire and the worst of it was the front drivers' side. Dented in under the hood all the way to the bumper.
Although they left a note, I'm already prepared for a fight. He thinks the damage should be less than $500. Cosmetically, who knows? It feels like the wheels will have to be realigned. That alone might be $500. This guy and the police officer look at my 19 year old car and think "Meh, its a cheap car", they have no idea. I'm sure some of you have had that issue of your C900 being undervalued when it comes time to insurance settlements and repairs. I'm already sensing that fight brewing.
I am not taking my Saab to some cheapo repair shop. I want someone who knows these cars and repairs them the way they are supposed to be repaired.
Any suggestions to a great body shop or mechanic in or around NYC would be appreciated. I'm thinking about Paul at Star Motors, but I'm not sure if he does that kind of work or estimate, and he is 50 miles from where I live. Any other suggestions on how to best proceed from prior experience is also appreciated.
