Suspension Lift Ideas...Who has some?

So, it occurred to me that a base model C900 with a few more inches of ground clearance might be a great poor-roading / over-sand vehicle.
Not a ridiculous lift. Just maybe 3-4 extra inches to fit some slightly over-sized tires that would remain no larger than the diameter of the fender wells. Skinny enough to turn lock to lock when the springs are fully compressed and not hit the outer fender lip. You know what I mean right? Just to give a little extra clearance through rutted sand driving and a bit more travel when going over bumpy dirt road pot holes before busting a shock through a control arm or something.
What would be the simplest way to do this?
My thought would be to shim what I could for camber at the control arms to get an idea of what lift would be possible then swap in tall poly spacers on all corners and airbags in the rear perhaps just for adjustablity? I bet I could get roughly 2" before selecting a suitable larger tire size. Finding shocks with the right travel would be the last step in think.
Any other ideas? Ways of attacking this etc?
I'm curious. -Steve
