The XR is awesome - just about to crest 300,000 miles on the original engine. I replaced the C4 automatic with a T5 manual a little while ago, so sadly the original transmission won't be around to enjoy the festivities. But, the T5 has close to 200k on it (or, the TurboCoupe it came from did, anyway) so it's not far behind California recently relaxed the restrictions on legal modifications for pre-'96 cars, so the XR is legally breathing through an AEM dry element open filter and into a front mount intercooler. Even at stock boost (10psi) it's pretty quick. No complaints about this car whatsoever - it's quite a bit more rattly than a similar age c900, but that probably has something to do with the springs that are on it - 350 in lb in front springs and 700 in lb rear springs. :) I have a new ported & ceramic coated exhaust manifold, hybrid turbo, and 3" down pipe for it this spring. With boost at 18-20psi, it should make a pretty reliably ~280hp - albeit with a 2000 rpm power band. Good thing it has extremely tall gearing (~2700rpm at 80mph).
