I spent all day under the car cleaning the steering rack, all the hoses and, all the connections. Then I let the car run and turned the wheel and revved it up. I thought I would be able to see an obvious heavy leak but I couldn't. I did see some coming out of the top of the steering gear but not much. I was able to tighten almost every nut and the screw clamp on the hose at the bottom of the power steering pump. One thing odd is the reservoir. I reached my finger in there and discovered a hard plastic flap inside toward the back. When I put my finger in my 91' there was no flap. What is this flap? Should it be in there? It seems to only be attached on one side. Is it debris or a valve to block the return line from back flow?
