I just got back from driving 300 miles in our 1993 this afternoon (average speed of 75mph but at one point alternating following/leading a Porsche as we passed stuff). Fantastic car to drive! Until this week, our only cars were 2 c900s: 1989 + 1993, both NA, and both automatics. Both are dd though the 1989 mostly sees winter + the 1993 avoids salt.

That said, because both our cars are automatics + the 1989's slush box is nearing death (and the body is rusting, so not worth a stick transplant), we just picked up a 9-5 to do the highway trips with the kids (can't risk breakdown!). The c900s will still do daily driving duties in the city (9-5's do not like short trips!) + when the 1993 automatic goes, it will get a stick (and ideally an LPT, possibly using the 1989's perfect low miles 2.0L vs the dubious 2.1L that's in there now)...

fwiw, the 9-5 is a fantastic highway car (fast + 32mpg + big tank + comfortable = can drive forever)... but both c900s handle more precisely + are more fun overall.

Philip, I know you've been waffling over maybe "upgrading" to a newer saab. I don't know the condition of the one you have + your level of diy interest, but a good c900 is truly a gem + worth holding on to! imho (and in my indy's opinion also) it is a better car than the new ones (as nice as they are)...

James...
