Rain/engine issues... UPDATE! Posted by gfreshski1 [Email] (#1116) [Profile/Gallery] (more from gfreshski1) on Tue, 26 Apr 2011 05:44:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Thanks to all of those that chimed in with suggestions.
I ordered new plugs (NGK), new wires (Bosch, only ones available at eeuro), distributor cap and rotor as well as a new air filter and replaced them all.
I must say, the performance is downright frisky for old gal. It has rained a couple of times since then, once heavily, and I have not had any issues starting the car. Hopefully that was the solution.
The spark plugs looked a little worn. Upon review, I realize that I last changed the spark plugs, wires etc in February 2009. It was about due I suppose, although I drive closer to 12,000 miles per year as opposed to 15k. I do drive in lots of stop and go traffic. 2 years (and 2 hot summers) in LA and 2/3 year in NYC. These engines already produce lots of heat, so I can only imagine the temps reached under the hood in these conditions.
I appreciate all of you guys here as a resource. You allow me to own this car and get good use out of it. I couldn't take it to the mechanic for every issue as you all surely know. Those suggestions were so valuable. I even cleaned the battery terminals and contacts to be safe!
