real low miles on an 83. Pumps usually don't go out thast early as for miles, but maybe lots of sitting about has not helped. I am not that familiar with pre 90's and although I once owed a new 83 the pump lasted until it was totaled in a wreck. The 90 and + pumps I hav removed and it helpds to have the proper spanner wrench to remove the segmented fuel pump ring. The pump is located beeath the wooden floor of the trinck, then a metal cover in metal floor, beneath wereby lays the pump. before going into the pump be aware that the plastic fuel lines have check valves at the end and may break as well as the lines. I am certain you will get better instructions to remove the pump, but best have all the new stuff ordered and on hand as I am not sure if you can still get the right pump or if thetre are various pumps for that year car. You will likely get that info too. Do a search on this web about pump R&R for your year.
