if the deposits are particularly crusty... put on a pair of rubber gloves.... and then either CLR or LIME AWAY on a shop rag (cloth type) and clean them. follow with a distilled water bath to rinse. then new hoses. if you have time consider renewing your thermostat too if you feel comfortable doing it. always distilled water and coolant mix. if you buy the premix stuff.... you are paying dearly for that, consider buying the straight stuff and distilled water. cost's about 60% of the premixed. how to do the mix when you do that you say? Easy.... follow these steps.
usually the coolant is in a bottle that is difficult to see inside of...
however you CAN see the graduated markings on the outside of the container.
So....
pour to one half gallon remaining.... into the coolant resviour. then top off THAT bottle from the distilled water, you have now made a 50/50 mix. pour the remaining distilled water into the car, start and let it warm up if necessary to get sufficient space to do it.
