...yes, you could obtain the lens separately from the reflector and housing. But even in Sweden, replacement e-codes are sold as complete units these days. Those cars are approaching 20 years old for the youngest, so they try to minimize parts that they need to carry.
Swapping from 87-94 DOTs to E-Codes is straightforward, but you do need to do more than just pop the new lamp assembly in. The bulbs are vastly different, and that means that you need to change the wiring harness plug from the one that goes onto the 9004 bulb to one that goes on an H4 bulb, and be sure to get all the wires right. Rallylights<<<dot>>>com (link below) has ceramic sockets you can get to make the change. Also, don't make the mistake many people do and not obtain the proper rear cap and rubber feed-through that an OE installation would have. The reflector won't last long without those sealing the units. On the e-code, the wire goes through the rubber feed-through into the unit, where the connection at the bulb is made, rather than being out in free space like the 9004 bulb.
