Have this 88 SPG thats only a little rough cosmetically, but has been the fastest Saab I've owned.Likely something is not working or has been deliberately by passed or removed cause the Turbo really kicks in strong. When not in my gas sucking PU it is now a daily driver. Other day driving home it started to cut out as if it had an ignition issue (like a coil spark jumping to ground). A few days later as night approached (figured a jumping spark was easier to see in the approaching darkness)I opened the bonnet, looking for issues as the car would now only start for a few seconds then stop. Saw a vac hose being rubbed by the window wiper motor arm and re routed slightly, but then saw the 3 hose vac fitting rubber seal was missing from the side/rear of intake manifold. Previous owner had used a tie down strap to hold the vac fitting in place and the tie down had broken. No sign of rubber seal. Put in a new one and problem solved. Intuition from reading this site for years has finally sunk in. Vacumn issues are a major cause of problems in our cars, and usually easier to find and resolve than fuel or ignition issues. Had the large intake pop off once when on interstate. Just about shut me down completely, but again easy to find and fix.Too many Saabs to restore , so little time.
