Have you tried an actual balljoint or tie rod removal tool? I bought a real set a year ago, and can't fathom why I didn't do it a decade ago. Messing around with propane, sledges, pickle forks. Ridiculous! An OTC 6297 or OTC 7315A (each about $40) are great things to have around. Harbor Freight makes imposter versions of the same tools for half as much, but I have seriously hammered on the OTC parts (especially the 6297) and it's never let me down. A little force on it followed by some CRC Freeze Off then repeat has always worked. When I replaced the original (as far as I can tell!) balljoints on my '62 Falcon a month ago, there was so much force on the 6297 that when it finally gave the pop was so loud my dog ran away and my girlfriend thought I'd been shot. My ears were ringing for 5 minutes!
