You can use a Turbo distributor instead of replacing the crank sensor on your car. The Turbo distributor has the Hall sensor inside it, whereas the dist. on your car is hollow. You need a dist. from a 16V 85-93 Turbo (or 86-87 NA), plus a bit of the wiring harness from the donor car, that is, the plug and a couple feet of wiring. Splice the old crank sensor wiring to the donor wiring, install the distributor, set the base timing to 14* BTDC and drive. The signal is the same as your crank sensor. Do not use the vacuum capsule that comes on Turbo distributors.
Having someone put another motor in is likely going to cost more than the car's value.
If all else fails, some nutjob Seattleite would probably take a ride across the water to come take it off your hands. If I had the space, I probably would. :-)
