I replaced mine a few months back while I was swapping in a crack-free dash. Even then, it was enough of a PITA that I might consider taking the dash out again, if I ever have to. Either that or pulling the whole heater core assembly out from underneath. Doing this blind (or nearly so)through the speaker grill has got to be torture. If you try this, I'd recommend removing the knee bolster too.
I don't think even an experience Saab mechanic with the right tools could do this in 15 minutes. A half hour maybe. It took me 15 or twenty minutes to do this with the dash off and everything right in front of me. I do not envy you in this task.
The key element is making sure the O-rings don't get pinched or out of position when you install the new one. Safest bet is to put a couple of very small blobs of permaseal at 12 and 6 in the o-ring grooves for the new valve and press the o-rings into it the night before (to hold them firmly in place during installation).
If you botch the o-ring, antifreeze will leak all over your carpets and you'll have a whole new project on your hands, in addition to re-installing the valve.
