I have been experimenting with repairing dash cracks lately and have found it totally doable if you are up for it. Mine was a 1980 900 that had sat in the dessert for years under the sun. Dash was not only cracked, the cracks went all the way through on the front lip and there were many. There is a link somewhere to a guy on an Alfa Romeo forum who did a great dash repair with some very expensive plastic bumper repair epoxy and truck bed liner. I instead chose to go with some $5 Gorilla glue since it was foam based like the inside of the dash. Filled it and sanded, then coated with adhesion promoter and cheap truck bed liner. Some spots could have used more adhesion promoter and some warps could not be sanded down enough to disappear, but overall, the dash came out looking nearly new. If the alternative is an expensive pad that may not fit right anyway, I suggest going for this fix.
