Seriously. I was trying to get to my wife's parent's house to ask if I could marry their daughter. Saab broke down all three times I tried. On the fourth time, i made it. Didn't call ahead so as not to jinx myself - it worked. Things went great. 5 minutes after leaving, I was driving down the interstate when things started to get sloppy. Lost 5th gear. Then first. Stuck it in 4th and the gear shift lever broke off in my hand. I thought I must be in a cartoon or something. With it stuck in fourth, i turned around on the interstate and made the 2 hour drive back to my parents house. Through one toll booth, and all the way to a park and ride where my dad met me with a spare shifter lever that I had in his basement... just in case. Swapped it out in 10 minutes and made the 2.5 hour drive back home.
I'll make sure to double check that.
