I've added gauges to a couple of my cars. I get the power from the cigarette lighter. Easy to access and tap into that harness without disassembling half the dash by just pulling the adjacent switches, reaching in with a couple fingers and unplugging it from the back of the lighter. You can then pull it out far enough through one of the pulled switch openings to solder some wires on. I get the lighting from the ashtray light.
You'll have to feed wires through to the engine bay as well. I like to feed them through the rubber grommets that SAAB put in to plug the master cylinder mounting holes for RHD cars. You can access them easily in the passenger side footwell by just peeling the carpet back. You can either replace them with a standard grommet with a hole in it, or just drill a hole in them to feed the wires through. You will need some kind of grommet to keep water out of the cabin.
