The switch is intermittent on mine.
Probably don't drive it enough!

Sounds like you have don't a pretty complete job and I assume you went over the wiring diagram, but I think the fuses on the left front near the battery, the main switch, handbrake switch and the relays are about it.
Might be worth checking if the relays actuators and switches are off a separate fused circuit though!

I did make a half hearted attempt to get the switch apart and clean the contacts. A lot harder than the window switch module.

Last I checked you could even still buy them on one of the sponsor sites.
Not cheap for a simple switch though.
