hi - this started maybe a week or so ago - on my '93 900s - kind of sounds like a small cat gargling in the next room (lol) not a whine per se - but a warbly pitched sound that seems to go away when NOT idling. i've put my head all over the running engine and with my head over the center of the engine, seems to be coming from below, maybe near the firewall. thought it might be the compressor but turning that on and off doesn't make a difference. i DID have that harmonic balancer? rubber core thingy replaced a couple of months ago (that caused my belts to loosen) and am wondering if it's related to that. could it be a power steering issue? it's been topped up a few times over the past few months, but haven't been able to find any substantial leak. anyway, hoping somebody might have an idea of what this might be. thanks so much!
