Half of the bolts that hold the cam caps on early heads (external oilers) are hollow and will do what Landjet says if you crack one loose. The difference in oil circuitry is that the oil is fed from the galley on the side of the casting versus the hole in top of the cam cap but a hollow or slotted bolt is still needed on one side to complete the circuit. If water comes out when you loosen it then it was too tight (joke).
