After making sure i had oil pressure...i guessed as to where the timing should be set, and she started RIGHT up and idled well for 30 seconds.. But, smoke started to pour from the exhaust right away. Moments later it poured from the engine bay. When i looked where it was coming from it was clearly seeping from two places. I watched it bubble.
1. The turbo to DP joint.
2. The turbine side of the turbo to the exhaust elbow before the DP.
I only removed one bolt from the elbow for the guard under the distributor. I removed the two engine side bolts of the turbo to DP...but never removed the entire turbo because i intended to take it out with the manifold.
Now...after i found this, smoke started to come form the dipstick again, as well. And more than before. Its CLEAR that the turbo is in bad shape. It will replaced. But what would cause it to force into the crankcase still?
The car needs a leak down test. I know this, but im only asking for other advice, as sadly the women who owns it has left me (no it wasnt due to the car work...haha) and will be using her new boy as her mechanic. Long story, but i want to give her the best parting info i can...for safety's sake.
Thanks in advance.
