Whats the VIN on that car? I installed a Motorola setup on my 90 SPG back in the day. The box with the phone jack is a dial tone emulator. It was used to provide a dial tone for equipment such as a computer modem. I had Toshiba laptop with a ... Wait for it... PCMCIA modem. 1200 baud. Bad as$. The dial tone box cost over $200. This is definitely NOT a Saab setup. In fact Saab did not offer a cell phone integration option for the c900 era cars.
The emulator was a pretty weird device. For a while I had a regular desk phone in the car as a gimmick. If did require a cell phone to work as the emulator plugged in line with the handset.
The microphone on the A pillar was for the hands free setup.
This would be cool if it was my old car! It also had a trick Viper alarm that would roll up the windows and close the sunroof when the alarm was armed and optionally open them on disarm.
