Take a slender length of tube and try to push the bottom of the shock mount upwards with the scissors jack. If you removed the bolt, then it should compress upwards. Make sure the trailing arm has dropped down enough to give the shock assembly ample room to be pulled out. There are only two attach points -- the bottom and the top.
When you say the "rear" bolt, I am guessing that you mean the bottom bolt?
