is it possible to repair a broken brake line Posted by CBS [Email] |
So my "old" SPG was sitting under a cover all WInter and I just went out to start it. After sitting for 5+ months it started on the first revolution of the starter...amazing. However, I pressed on the brakes and had pressure then nothing. I just wanted to back it onto stands to replace the rubber muffler hangers that all had rotted. Anyway, I walked around to look for leakage and yup just under the drivers side back seat. Upon opening up the back seat the line was rusted through where it sits lowest to the body. Darn. I read through some posts of March 12, and apparently pre-formed lines are not available. Got some great sources from Justin for bulk line, but am a little intimidated. Is it possible to fix or is that inherently too dangerous? Also, does this line run all the way from the brake to the master? or are there "connectors" and segments of line? How many man-hours for this novice (to brake lines) to uninstall old, fabricate, and reinstall new? TIA.
