Turbo R&R, rebuild Posted by dave24 [Email] (#457) [Profile/Gallery] (more from dave24) on Mon, 30 Apr 2012 04:54:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have an 87 900 convertible that is stored over the winter. Fired it up for the summer season and found the engine starting emitting blue smoke from the exhaust after idling for about 5 minutes. Changed the oil/filter, and took it for a spin – no noticeable smoke from the exhaust – in fact it was running great - but after shutting it off, I noticed quite a bit of smoke coming from the turbo area where it attaches to the exhaust.
I’m guessing turbo seals so the plan is to remove the turbo and rebuild. I’ve never touched a turbo in a C900, so I’m looking for some advice from people who have been down this road. Searches of this forum have helped me feel confident with my diagnosis, but I have not been able to find any procedures for R&R, or rebuilding tips. Can anyone help with either a pointer to a procedure, or advice?
Thanks,
Dave
