You can do a go/no go check of the hall sensor following the
instructions in Bentely about finding the diagnostic port, connecting
up a switch, and opening/closing the switch and turning the key in
a complex sequence. It's all pretty interesting. There's a way to
read out error codes from the check-engine light flashes.
From memory, the first one that you get (power on
but never cranking the engine) is "no hall effect signal". Then you crank
it for a second and that one clears. You can also run it through some
tests were it exercises different components (like the injectors).
The sequence in the manual seemed correct, but it can be hard to find
the connector (differently placed in vert and sedan?).
