Thanks SImon and Cmyles! You two know your stuff as I have seen your many posts before... One other question while I have you two.... Background first though....
My 1990 900 Turbo has approx 150 thousand miles on it. After the engine is warmed up, and I really mean warmed up as its been over a hundered degrees outside here for a month. The intense heat combined with the turbo under the hood, and the A/C on all mean a VERY HIGH under hood temperature. Anyway, after the engine is warmed up under the aforementioned conditions my oil light flickers when at an idle. I doesn't STAY on, it just flickers. I have gone through all of the normal checks. Light comes on when the ignition key is turned on, light goes out after the engine starts, light stays OFF until the engine is very warmed up then flickers at idle. I have always used Mobil 1 10w30. I hooked up a manual gauge and it has 40 + PSI at Idle cold. I could not leave it running to get anymore readings as oil was leaking out due to me having the wrong adapter installed. Thanks to you I now know I need a 1/8 NPT to M14 x 1.5 adapter. Just ordered one. Anyway, what should the Normal oil pressure be at idle start up cold etc?? I have two Volvo 240 with 300,000 plus miles on both with no oil pressure problems. I have a hard time believing that this engine with half that is worn out. I have owned the car since new and have always changed the oil frequently and have always used Mobil 1 10w30. I have changed the oil more than probably more than necessary due to the Turbo on the car. Look forward to your replies :)
