Still can't get saab running...Help Please (long) Posted by Robster501 [Email] (#417) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Robster501) on Fri, 24 Aug 2012 21:54:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
heres every detail I can remember which will hopefully help diagnose the problem.
1989 turbo
Ran great for a year. Everyone once in a great while it would stall then start right back up.
Recently I was driving for about 10 minutes when car suddenly wouldn't accelerate and the engine light came on simultaneously. When the engine light was on it wouldn't accelerate/accept gas...but when the engine light flickered off it would "catch up" with the gas i had been giving it and drive normally if that makes any sense. Car died completely when I shifted into neutral.
Wouldn't start on the first few cranks but then ran fine for a few seconds and drove up the street but soon same thing as before(engine light and no acceleration). Towed back to house.
Unplugged and replugged air mass meter and distributer electric plugs got it to run well for a few minutes until it died again and wouldn't restart.
CPS sensor connection on distributor is loose but i've read that it either works or doesn't so doubt thats the problem
Didn't run with AMM unplugged
Good spark at coil and plugs
Think I heard fuel pump run, but haven't jumped with wire for sure.
Checked turbo intake plumbing replaced a partly cracked grommet. Car then started and ran good for 5 minutes then died and wouldn't restart
New in last 10k-15k miles
dist. cap and rotor
Spark plugs: gaps are pretty close...fair amount of carbon on each plug. One plug wet with fuel.
spark plug wires
fuel filter
Cleaned AIC valve, AMM, and throttle body
Probably more that I don't recall
Where should go from here. Relays/fuses?
This is the first car I've really worked on so don't have diagnostic equipment
Thanks for all the help everyone-Rob
