Hello all, I'm new to the site and seeking some help with my beautiful 88 900 turbo convertible that I recently purchased. The auto trans is out, but otherwise exceptional condition, no rust, SPG rims, full records and about 90K. I think it may be a bad pump. When you start the car, there is a loud whine coming from the front of the engine. The car will go into gear and move, but just barely. When you give it gas there is an audible knocking noise from the trans. I believe the car sat for long periods of time before I bought it, because I've got to believe these tranny went further than 90K. I'm new to the classic 900's but I really like these cars and want to keep it if possible. So i'm trying to out what specifically the car needs, whether it is a complete rebuild or maybe just a pump replacement. I've also hear some sort of chain goes out too. Any advice would be much appreciated, as well as recommendations for reputable and inexpensive shops in the Wash, DC area. thanks!
