do you have a voltmeter? what does the battery measure with the car running + with the car off? does the dash etc dim, wipers slow, etc... ie running off the battery?
Did you check the condition of the wires along their full length? are they original? sometimes they deteriorate badly such that even if they are secured properly, there is a significant voltage drop across a wire. You should be able to root that out with a voltmeter. If they are all good and the alternator itself isn't charging, well, you can look at brushes or voltage reg, or maybe the new (rebuilt?) alternator itself was a dud?
Someday I will post the picture of my old alternator positive wire I replaced (the short one). holy crap the car starts and runs better now!
