I found water leak through firewall

I haven't heard anyone mention this before, so I'm eager if anyone has any similar experience. Water is coming into my engine compartment through a shrunken driver's side wiper arm seal and also through the small hole in the middle (more towards driver's side) of the hood gutter. The rainwater runs down the firewall where the heater core hoses attach and continues down behind my firewall shield and has begun to rust through in a couple of small spots. I can see these spots near the clutch master, but below and more towards the midline of the car.

I can get a new wiper arm seal and also plug that hole in the gutter to prevent water from dripping onto the firewall, but it'll be hard to get to that area on the body if I ever want to weld in a patch to fix the rust.

Has anyone had this happen before?
