'91T distributor with connector wire on an '86T?

I'm working on my 1986 Saab 900T
I partially munged both the connector wire and the end on the distributor when doing the head gasket service. I was able to piece it together and it held OK. I just finished replacing the clutch and discovered I had destroyed it further to where it no longer stays in the distributor and the connecting female wire connector. I have a '91 donor car with a good distributor and connector wire. Are they interchangeable? If so can I use a wire crimp and solder to splice the wire in? Thanks - Owen
