My vote is for AMM - had a similarly experience to Swedecar in an '88 900T with a dead AMM. Owner thought the car was on its last legs since it was taking forever to get to freeway speed. New AMM, all cured.
Could also be the ignition control module, although that would be a somewhat odd type of failure for one. However, both are easy to swap out. So if one doesn't work, try the other. ;)
