Very simple. There never was an SPG convertible manufactured "by name."
Saab convertibles were built as 900S (normally aspirated/non-turbo) and 900 Turbo variants for all c900 model years between 1986 and 1994.
In North America, the Turbo convertible was manufactured with factory-installed "SPG" cosmetics in 1988 and in 1991. The 1988 cars belong to what is known as the Springtime in Sweden"' or "SIS" cars. There were 288 built Worldwide. In 1991, Saab created the Special Edition or "SE" cars. There were 300 Yellow cars and 351 Grey convertibles built.
In overseas markets, Saab supplied the "turbo S" which was a full pressure turbo car that could be ordered with the SPG or as otherwise known as the 900 "Aero" trim package. The trim package consisted solely of the aerodynamic skirts and three spoke wheels. These convertibles did not get higher hp engines or suspension changes that were found in the 3-door SPG. The "turbo S" is also known as the T16s. In overseas markets the 900S car could also be ordered with the Aero skirts.
