First of all I'd start with some searches on here, because I think this has come up before and you might learn the exact answer from those old threads. But my idea of a likely cause: you might want to look close at the fuel line fittings that go into the pump.

They are white plastic, and L shaped, and sometimes get cracked especially if someone has removed a line without taking special care.

To take them out of the pump, you release a catch by prying it back, maybe with a screwdriver blade, then twisting the fitting side to side, pull straight up gradually till they come out of pump.

I think I've seen it advised to spray with WD40 and it seeps down in to the Orings that seal these, and helps them twist easier. One idea is grab the nylon straight down from above with jaws of a visegrips, loosely clamped, and use them as a handle to wiggle and pull straight up.

DO NOT pry up on the projecting L where the black nylon fuel lines come out, it looks tempting but that's how they get cracked.

If they are cracked, you should be able to see the crack. You can buy new ends - - one, the return line from fuel rail, has a check valve in it, the other is just an open ell. But attaching them to the fuel lines takes a special tool, or a homemade one, or maybe you can hold the fuel line with a flaring tool's clamping part, then tap the new fitting in. It has to be "clocked" the same way as the original, so you should mark the line with white paint or nail polish or something. And you must not cut much at all off the line when removing any bad fitting, as there's no real slack and if you lose too much it won't reach the pump.
