There were exactly three variations of the C900 hood, and they all fit on and work on all C900s ever made.
First version:
Symmetric Air inlet vents: Just like the holes on the right side that feed the HVAC system, there were a matching set of "inlets" placed symmetrically on the right side. They were cut through, and there was a plastic panel under it to prevent water from getting on the brake stuff.
Only fitted to 1979-1980 models.
Second Version: Same hood, but they took away the "inlet" on the left side. Something about wanting to keep the brake system from getting all rusty...
Fitted to 1981 through 1984 models.
Third version: As second version, but with a dimple for the "SAAB-SCANIA" roundel at the nose. Fitted 1985 through to the end.
You can't get replacement hoods for versions 1 & 2 except from junked cars. Even back in the 90s, all parts superseded to the last version.
