Ah... I had forgotten about that possibility!
Here's what I'd suggest to the OP: do whatever you can to determine whether the engine is actually moving around or not. Carefully jack under the front and rear of the transmission and see if you can see any movement other than the mounts compressing and uncompressing.
Or... see if you can duplicate the problem while holding the car stationary with the brakes (this requires some creativity, 3 feet, or a good e-brake) while having someone observe the engine to see if it's moving. Of course have the observer stand to the side just in case the car moves!
The above steps might identify a problem somewhere that's allowing the engine to move around. If that's not the case, as Bill says, the problem might well be inside the transmission.
