I have a 1991 C900 Turbo hatchback manual that I saved from the crusher. I paid 275 dollars because I couldn't believe how well the transmission functioned. I drove the car all they way from MN to WY without any problems, I even smoked a cig 20 miles from the destination because I was so happy with it and I don't even smoke. The car definitely needs to be refreshed all around especially anything involving rubber. I am lame and I want to avoid another rust repair project. And I've never dealt with Saab ABS stuff, it all seems annoying based on previous Saabnet posts... I'm more familiar with pre-88 cars. I'd prefer to keep this '91 from being road worthy as it would cost me about 2000 dollars in parts with a tranny rebuild (pinion bearing refresh is the right thing to do). The past two C900s I saved involved rust repair and are still on the road and loved. I'm hoping that for every 2 C900s saved, one can be sacrificed, if necessary. I'm trying to justify cutting this '91 in half to make a trailer because the rear half has much less rust than the front half.
Has anybody on Saabnet attempted fabricating a trailer out of a rear half? The only problem I see is getting enough weight on the hitch of the tow vehicle. I can see adding some fiberglass construction just ahead of where the door latches are. Thinking of adding material ahead of the axle so a 5' 10" person can sleep in it. There are some examples on any internet image search. I will be parting this car out soon, I think. The more I see what Jon William's is doing it makes me feel guilty for even considering not making the proper repairs to this C900 shell and resourcing an old brake system.
