Thanks to those who commented on my question a couple weeks ago. It wasn't a hot topic but I thought I'd post a followup anyway. Car: 90T, 120K, sat for 6 years in Fresno CA. Fairly virgin car. I thought it looked like the car had a new fuel pump pump because the orange/red dab of paint on the screw wasn't there. Finally pulled the pump this week. Glad I did. The pump has been out before but looks like the OE pump. It's a Walbro insert with the 8mm nipple. Has the 40mm piece of rubber fuel line between the insert nipple and the black plastic line. When the pump came out the black line was broken clear thru just above the connection at the rubber hose. Apparently the movement needed to get the assembly out was all that was needed to break the line. The black collars that nest the insert on the top and bottom were crumbling and there were numerous black bit in the bottom of the basket. The elbow o-rings were cracking and there was black silicone on the nipples to presumably compensate. My theory is the it had a cracked tank that was replaced.
