I recently went through this with my Sonett. A plasma cutter makes things go a lot faster. I bought my plasma cutter from Eastwood, it was scratch and dent. I used it to redo the trunk floor in my sonett, as well as the back of the floor pan. When I was done with it, I sold it on clist for $50 more than I paid for it new. Do your best with your welds, and seam seal everything up when you are done. Other than that, it is just a lot of dirty, messy work. Home Depot sells sheet metal, take a piece that you cut out with you, and compare it to what they have. If you are replacing something complex, consider just buying the section you need from someone parting out a car.
