Check your res. hose for clogs. If the MC can't suck new brake fluid from the res. the piston won't have a full load to push. I've seen MC's that have had their "nipple clamp" twisted as to block the tiny intake hole into the piston bore. You don't have a bleeding problem! Once you get the beginnings of a hard pedal or a working clutch the system WILL self bleed. There is also an internal piston return spring that may be broken or missing.
