92na Timing off 90 degrees Posted by Roger D [Email] (#1121) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Roger D) on Sat, 6 Jul 2013 15:12:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm relaying this for a disabled friend who lacks computer access. He has a 1992na vert that failed smog. The smog shop checked timing and couldn't find the mark. Car runs good, has good power. He's passed smog several times in the past because they didn't check the timing because they knew that it was controlled by the EZK system. The owner knew the timing was off right after he got the car. He went to shop that had a former Saab mechanic performing the smog test who said something about some manufacturing variations and it isn't a problem. The owner says he's put his own timing light on the car without the flywheel cover. Per his recollection the light hits the flywheel about 90 degrees off on the pass side of the car. We've checked his flywheel part number and it is correct for a non-turbo. Any suggestions?
