Good success tonight working on the drop top.
1. Read an old Townsend Import document on troubleshooting the dampers & dash ventilation system. He states that when the center vents don't work, look at the vacuum canister (in the trunk on my convert.). BINGO - the trunk had been worked on as the rear end has been repainted. Removed the spare and the vacuum reservoir is behind it. Sure enough, the body shop reconnected the lines to the wrong fitting......I reconnected to the check valve.
2. SIRIUS install up behind heater assay. dislodged line #2, which goes to the lower servo which controls the air damper door above the heater core. I found this line off.....and can attest it is a bugger to get reattached! Used all my automotive cunning and treachery that I know, and relanded the #2 servo line back on the damper diaphragm.
Last note - there is a tiny port connection on the top side of the trunk vacuum canister. I chose to block this line with a small vacuum hose and a nail (it's small) . I think this port must have been capped......and the body shop lost the cap. I can pull the hose back off if needed. i know the check valve keeps the canister charged with vacuum . Is this tiny port intentionally open, to relieve the vacuum when the car shuts off?
