So I found that site you mentioned, TC. Looks good, but it looks like he was sent a matching OEM chipset from keylessride. So his procedures work if you have a pair of matching chips. I called them up to see if they could get me a set of chips, but no luck. They don't even have connections to Alpine - they make their own chips and remotes which still would not work because you need a programing button in the receiver which our system does not have. We only have an on/off switch apparently.
So... I called local car audio places to see if they could get chips from Alpine. They said it has been about 8 years since Alpine sold car alarm products, so no go. They even threw out all their old stock a few years ago. So dead end there too.
I guess at this point, it comes down to finding a matching chipset. BUT... I also wonder if since BMWs use the same chips and Alpine stuff but they do have hte reprogramming button if it would be possible to borrow someone's BMW to reset my chips and then install them in the Saab?
